Not just anyone would visit a nuclear waste burial ground with you. I don't remember all the technical details, but yes, under that big pile of rocks is lots of toxic waste buried in special boxes sealed with special stuff covered by layer upon layer of special rocks. And we climbed to the top of it for a beautiful view.
